Kyle MacLachlan

“I don't know where I’m going from here, but I promise it won’t be boring.” ~David Bowie

My name is Kyle MacLachlan. I’ve graduated from SAIT in the Radio, Television, Broadcast News (RTBN), and the New Media Production and Design (NMPD) programs. I am a creative-minded entrepreneur who likes movies, television shows, and video games. Born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, it has always been a passion of mine to create interesting and imaginative things - from character designs to stories. My inspiration started with Steven Spielberg's 1993 Jurassic Park, where I first got a glimpse at one of the scariest movies I could imagine - Nowadays, I play Jurassic Park as background noise to other projects. As I watched more movies growing up, from the wild adventure of Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean to the medical drama that comes with Grey's Anatomy, I have grown to enjoy these stories of fantasy and fiction, and it shows in my work. Not only do I draw and sketch, but I also write stories, work on a YouTube gaming channel and streaming on Twitch. My dream is to work in post-production, editing videos and film.

I’ve begun my career in the film industry. I’ve became licensed as a Grip for film through the IATSE 212 Union, and started working towards my membership. I’ve worked on 4 productions in Calgary, with varying degrees of difficulty.

To keep my skills working, I operate a "Let's Play" YouTube and Twitch Stream channel called DyrezzPlays. Starting August 19th, 2018, DyrezzPlays is a small community where I play and commentate on video games. In the early episodes, you can tell just how inexperienced I was when it came to audio quality, and video quality. When I started going to SAIT for the Radio, Television, Broadcast News Program, I was able to envelop the content I learned from the classes into this channel to improve my audio, video and commentary quality.

During my second year at SAIT, I entered and won the Jason Lang Scholarship . It helped pay for my final semester which led to graduating from the New Media Production and Design program at SAIT.
